Dr. Anna K. Smith is our Clinical Manager of our Durham-Chapel Hill office. Sex therapist and psychologist Dr. Smith has her Doctorate in Psychology and a Master’s in Human Sexuality from Widener University, as well as a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. She is also an AASECT-certified sex therapist. Hailing from the area, she’s an alumna from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Smith has a range of experience with clients including couples, sex therapy, families and groups, Her practice covers an array of mental health issues from depression, anxiety disorder to issues relating to sexual orientation, gender identity and trauma recovery. LGBTQAI-friendly.
Continuing her training, Dr. Smith is studying to be certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (Attachment Theory for couples.) Her previous theoretical study has been in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. The flexibility of her skills to allows her to use the approach that resonates best with each individual client or couple.
Dr. Smith practices online and soon at the Chapel Hill-Durham location.

The goal of a Decision Intensive is to help you develop a deeper understanding of the problems in the relationship and how each partner contributed to those. From that place, you can make a more informed decision about how to move forward—into couples therapy, or on to divorce.
