Sex therapist and Raleigh psychologist Dr. Anna K. Smith has her Doctorate in Psychology and a Master’s in Human Sexuality from Widener University, as well as a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. Furthermore, she has finished her coursework for certification with the American Association of Sexual Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT.) Hailing from the area, she’s an alumna from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Smith has a range of experience with clients including couples, sex therapy, families and groups, Her practice covers an array of mental health issues from depression, anxiety disorder to issues relating to sexual orientation, gender identity and trauma recovery.
Continuing her training, Dr. Smith is studying to be certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (Attachment Theory for couples.) Her previous theoretical study has been in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. The flexibility of her skills to allows her to use the approach that resonates best with each individual client or couple.
