Parker is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. Additionally, she is credentialed as a National Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors. Parker earned her BA in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She continued her studies at Clemson University where she earned her Education Specialist degree (Ed.S.) and her Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) in Counselor Education with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Parker approaches counseling using a mixture of techniques pulled mainly from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy. Parker respects clients as the experts of their own experiences and believes in working collaboratively with them to help them navigate their own unique path to their happiest and most fulfilled self. To aid clients in doing so, she carefully curates her approach with each client to ensure that her approach aligns with each client’s specific needs. Parker is passionate about creating a safe and welcoming environment for all. She provides LGBTQIA+ affirming care and strives to continually educate herself and advocate for social justice and equity for all.
Parker has experience working with adults in both college and substance abuse treatment settings. She has worked with clients with a wide array of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief, life transitions, disordered eating, identity and sexuality exploration, interpersonal struggles, and more. Along with her passion for working with individual clients, Parker feels passionate about working with couples. She believes that the attachments that couples share provide them with a safe-haven from the outside world and its stressors. Strains on such attachments can be distressing and can lead to such distress manifesting in other important aspects of life. Parker looks forward to helping couples to reconnect and rebuild their relationships so that they are able to once again reap the benefits of their relationships’ safe havens.
Parker offers sex therapy for both couples and individuals. Additionally, she has completed over 60 hours of intensive training in attachment-based couple’s therapy called Emotionally Focused Therapy (Externship and Core Skills.)
Outside of the office, Parker enjoys making art, spending time with loved-ones, and going walking with her Golden Retriever, Ophelia.
Parker currently practices in-person at our Raleigh location, and online for clients anywhere in NC.
