Lauren Baker is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate. She received her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California and BA in French from University of Oregon.
Lauren’s clinical interests are couples in transition, maternal and parental health, communication skills, sex therapy, depression, anxiety and trauma. Lauren wrote her thesis “Vulvodynia: A Psychological Analysis” (2016) where she researched the mental health effects of sexual pain in women. She uses a combination of mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy and active listening to help support her clients. Her background is in depth and existential psychology. She is a body positive, trauma informed, and client-centered practitioner. She has worked with individuals, groups, couples and families. Lauren’s goal is to provide a safe environment for clients to feel supported.
Lauren offers sex therapy for both couples and individuals. Additionally, she has completed over 60 hours of intensive training in attachment-based couple’s therapy called Emotionally Focused Therapy (Externship and Core Skills.)
Lauren spends her free time with her toddler exploring the many parks in the triangle, looking for vintage furniture, trying new restaurants with her husband and reading.
